AI Voice Cloning for Personal Trainers: How It Works and Is It Safe?
Short answer: Voice cloning turns a short recording of you into an AI voice that can say new lines you type. In Fit Cut Pro it is part of the Pro and Ultimate plans: you agree to a consent text, say a consent sentence aloud and read a script of about 90 seconds once, and your workout cues are then generated in your voice. It is built to be safe for trainers: the voice is made only from your own recordings (the EULA forbids cloning anyone else), only your account can use it, your samples are stored and processed by ElevenLabs, Fit Cut Pro’s voice provider, only to make that voice, and voices are never used to train AI models. Delete my voice removes the voice, the recordings and every line made with it, at any time.
How voice cloning works
A voice model listens to a sample of you speaking and learns what makes your voice yours: its tone, pace, accent and the way you stress words. After that, you type a sentence and the model speaks it in that voice, including sentences you never recorded. The more natural and representative the sample, the closer the result: a calm studio read sounds different from your real coaching voice, which is why Fit Cut Pro’s script is written the way trainers actually talk to a class.
For workout videos this solves a practical problem. Recording every exercise name and form tip by hand is fine for ten exercises and tedious for two hundred. With a cloned voice you type “Bulgarian split squats” once and it is said in your voice in every workout that uses the clip.
How it works in Fit Cut Pro, step by step
Open the Voice side tab, open Voice studio on the Voice tab and click Create my AI voice under My voice. The set-up has four steps. Consent: you read the consent text and tick that you agree. Say it: you type your name and read one sentence aloud confirming that this is your own voice and that you agree to an AI version of it; the recording is kept as your consent. Read: you read a three-part script of about 90 seconds in your app language, at a natural pace with real energy. Create: the recordings are uploaded and the voice is ready within about a minute.
From then on, AI voice lines use your voice: the trainer cues (Next, Rest, Get ready, 3, 2, 1, Go and the rest), each exercise’s spoken name and its form tip. You can switch back to a stock voice at any time. Lines in your voice cost AI credits like any AI line, 1 credit per started 250 characters per request; Pro includes 100 AI credits a month and Ultimate 300. You can set up your voice at most 3 times a month.
Consent: why there is a spoken step
The biggest risk with voice cloning is someone cloning a voice that is not theirs. Fit Cut Pro’s consent text asks you to confirm that the voice is your own and that you are 18 or older, and the spoken consent sentence is kept on record. The EULA forbids cloning anyone else’s voice, so a client, a colleague or a celebrity is off limits even with a recording.
If you run a studio and want an AI version of another coach, that coach creates it on their own account, with their own consent.
Privacy: where your voice goes
Your recordings are stored and processed by ElevenLabs, the voice provider Fit Cut Pro uses, to create a voice that only your account can use, for generating cues for your workout videos. Fit Cut Pro does not use voices to train AI models and does not share them except to provide the feature. The details are in the privacy policy at fitcutpro.com/privacy.
Treat your Fit Cut Pro login like any account that can speak for you: use a strong password or Google sign-in, and do not share the account with people who should not be able to generate lines in your voice.
Ownership and deletion
The voice exists to make your videos, and the videos you export are standard MP4 files you keep. If you stop wanting the voice, open Voice studio and click Delete my voice. It deletes your AI voice, the recordings you made to create it (including your spoken consent) and every voice line generated with it; lines you recorded or uploaded yourself stay. It cannot be undone, and deleting your Fit Cut Pro account deletes the voice and recordings too.
Videos you already exported keep their audio, because they are finished files on your computer. Exports from then on simply do not say the deleted lines, so re-record or regenerate them in another voice if you still want cues.
What to tell your clients
Be upfront. A short line in the programme description is enough: “Cues in these videos are generated from my own voice with AI so every workout tells you what is next.” Most clients care that the cue is right and sounds like their coach; telling them how it is made builds trust rather than costing it.
Check the rules of the platform you publish on. Some ask creators to label realistic AI-generated audio. And keep your live coaching live: voice cues are for Creator and Editor videos, not for the Zoom app or the Recorder, so a live class is still you, in real time.
When not to clone
If you would rather not, you lose nothing essential. Recording your own lines in the browser is free on every plan, the trial included, and each line is recorded once and reused in every workout. Stock voices, including native-speaker voices for your app language, are available on every paid plan, and the trainer cues are free in them.
